Health and Safety Measures Undertaken Due to COVID-19

In view of the COVID-19 worldwide outbreak and in full adherence to the World Health Organisation’s recommendations, as well as Malaysia’s rules and regulations, we would like to share some of the precautionary and required measures to be undertaken at the resort when it reopens. Please note that these measures are not exhaustive and could change as and when new rules and regulations are decreed.

General

– Temperature checks for all guests upon arrival
– Social distancing of at least one metre to be adhered to at all times
– Face masks required for all interactions with resort employees, including activities and walks (except stipulated otherwise)
– Cars and buggies sanitised after each trip
– In-house nurse available 24 hours a day
– Hand sanitisers placed in all public areas

Rooms

– Very strict room cleaning protocol observed
– Every guest room sanitised upon check-out with a 24-hour gap in-between two clients
– Hand sanitisers provided upon arrival
– Face masks replenished daily 

Dining

– Breakfast served at The Dining Room and The Beach Club a la carte (no buffet)
– Lunch served at The Beach Club only
– Dinner served at The Gulai House, The Pavilion and The Beach Club
– In-Room Dining available 24 hours with contactless option
– Temperature checks taken upon entry to all restaurants
– Table layout of at least 2 metres apart
– Sanitation of all kitchen surfaces and restaurant furniture multiple times a day
– Hand sanitisers available at all restaurants

Activities

– Maximum group size of six guests for Beach Walk, Rainforest Awakening and Rainforest After Dark nature walks
– Maximum group size of four guests for Permaculture and Butterfly Walks
– All holistic activities (eg. yoga, pilates) will be conducted privately (limited to individual and travelling party) and charged accordingly

Facilities

– Swimming pools (main pool, family pool, toddler pool) reopened since 1 July
– Distance of 2 metres apart for sunbeds
– Immediate sanitisation of all sunbeds and beach equipment after use
– The Health Club maximum of four guests at a time
– Sauna and steam rooms currently closed
– Immediate sanitisation of gym equipment after use with focus on high touch areas
– The Spa reopened and available for all treatments since 1 July
– Other activities will also have safety measures in place to minimise the number of guests

Internally The Datai has also taken stringent precautionary measures to overcome the virus such as:

– Every employee’s temperature will be checked when they report for duty
– Any employee displaying even mild symptoms is immediately quarantined and tested
– All employees will wear masks and other protective gear at all times
– Social distancing is adhered to at all times and monitored constantly
– Every transport vehicle is sanitised after each trip
– Stringent training on Covid-19 measures and practices undertaken by all employees
