The Datai Langkawi welcomes Chef Nelly Robinson (founder of renowned Australian restaurant: nel.) as a guest of the 'Chef Series', to curate the degustation that is at once, both whimsical and ethereal. Fusing together The Datai's nature conscious philosophy and his creative genius, the conceptual menu pays tribute to the power of nature and the story of its elements: wood, fire, water, earth, and air.
Over the course of three days, Chef Nelly will be introducing a five-course dinner menu based on childhood memories and fairytales at The Dining Room. The magical surroundings of The Datai Langkawi provided an abundance of inspiration for an unexpected and exciting journey of the senses. Just as in the lush, tropical landscape of Datai Bay, not everything is always as it first seems on these plates, with joyous surprises and twists at every turn.
Chef Nelly will also be delivering a complimentary cooking demonstration at The Beach Bar on 31 August. A cooking class followed by lunch will be held at the resort’s cooking school, The Dapur (Malay for 'kitchen’) on 1 September. Here, guests can enjoy a unique hands-on gastronomic experience creating then enjoying their very own culinary delights.
As part of this series in partnership with Sidewood Wines, each dining experience will provide guests with the option to wine-pair from the largest eco-sustainable winery in Adelaide Hills. Founded in 2004, Sidewood Wines was born out of the vision and passion of owners Owen and Cassandra Inglis to create beautifully balanced, elegant, award-winning wines, accredited with the ‘5 Red Star’ rating from prolific Australian wine critic James Halliday.
